One Step, one day at a time

Sometimes I wish I could just eat a piece of toast with butter and jam😝

This week I was reminded that although what I eat is really important it's not the most important thing to get me to healing.

It's funny how many people tell me how great I look. I'm beginning to realize that I think people expect me to look balding and green skinned which is how cancer patients often do look. Part of the path to healing is about how I feel, and generally I feel pretty great, apart from missing some of my favorite foods or having a down day.

You should know that SOME of the listed side effects to chemotherapy and radiation include these items:

Leukemia, Neuropathy, Uterine Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Skin Cancer, Osteoporosis, Lung Damage, Brain Damage, Sleeplessness, Hot Flashes, Hair Loss, Chronic Fatigue...

It's a frightening list for someone who has suffered a good deal from the side effects of medications and medical procedures which I agreed to and then later was very sorry that I had.

When I feel like eating chocolate cake or not drinking my wheatgrass juice, I remember, that saying yes to what's good for me and no to what isn't is SO much better than submitting to chemo and radiation. One step at a time, one day at a time.
