Integrative Medicine

One of the more well known M.D.'s who practices integrative medicine is Dr Andrew Weil. His definition of integrative medicine is "healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative."

It seems to me that all medicine should be integrative but what do I know😝.

Yesterday I finally completed pulling together the 96 pages of records and forms including a 16 page patient questionnaire I was asked to complete for Dr Keith Block, an integrative cancer specialist in Skokie, IL, not far from us.

I have decided to visit Dr Block to attempt to find an MD who will work WITH us and monitor my progress. My appointment is on May 16, another all day ordeal, but I had to get my paperwork in this week.

Our prayer is that we would find an ally on the giant Titanic that is our conventional medical system as we sail around in our dingy. Dr Block has come highly recommended and has been teaching and promoting natural therapies for over 30 years, an amazing fact in itself. He also has people who come to him from all over the world, and we feel blessed that he is right in our own backyard. We'll see, here's hopin'! It's yet another part of the journey.
